Our Mission
The Aswad & Jonnell Thomas Foundation is a leadership development training program to engage youth and young adults in creative writing, education, mentoring, reading, sports, financial literacy, property management, real estate, and digital technology. Progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support drive us. The community-based youth program is dedicated to providing resources and programming that empower youth to navigate their life and establish meaningful connections with the community. Our programs enhance personal growth by supporting youth with physical, mental, financial, and environmental well-being. As well as providing an array of resources designed to foster personal and creative development, a sense of community, and opportunities to help proper transition into adulthood.

At the Aswad & Jonnell Thomas Foundation, well-being is at the forefront of what we’re working together towards. Our programs and activities are designed to be a catalyst that helps the youth in the community reach their goals and fulfill their potential.
We exist to create a balance between the youth and the community. In this community we will educate, motivate, and elevate our youth and young adults to reach their highest potential. We hope to provide an opportunity to build unity with the neighborhood and corporations.
Our Programs
Reading & Writing Academy
The Reading and Writing Academy is a 12-week enrichment program to help increase young people's motivation to read, write, and build their literacy skills.
TECH LAB: EMPOWERING TOMORROW'S INNOVATORS TO BRIDGE THE DIGITAL & TECHNOLOGY DIVIDE
Empowering young boys and girls of color in emerging technology fields is not just a social imperative; it's an economic necessity and a source of innovation. Our program seeks to bridge the digital divide by providing comprehensive education and training in Coding, A.I., Web3, Blockchain, Crypto Currency, E-Gaming, and other digital tools to empower the next generation of diverse tech leaders.
PATHWAYS TO HOME OWNERSHIP & PROPERTY MANAGEMENT
The Pathways to Home Ownership & Property Management Project aims to create a ripple effect of positive change, empowering young boys and girls of color to excel in the real estate and property management industries.
Life Skills & Leadership Development
The life skills and leadership development program offers comprehensive life-skills training designed for youth and young adults ages 14 and older, which provides a series of workshops designed to help prepare youth for a successful transition into adulthood.
ANNUAL EDUCATIONAL FIELD TRIP
Each year, with the support of donations, sponsors, and partnerships, the Aswad Thomas Foundation will bring youth and volunteers on educational and fun field trips to historic locations throughout the United States.
Annual Basketball Camp
The annual Larry "Cowboy" Harris basketball camp will provide an inspiring basketball summer camp experience to boys and girls ranging from grades K-8.
